I have a device that claims USB Mass storage compatability. It does
connect to 2 of my linux machines.. but not the other 2.
On my main computer, I have several USBMS devices that I use all the
time, but this one will not work. I get the following output from dmesg
after connecting the device.
hydra lirakis # dmesg | tail
usb-storage: *** thread awakened.
usb-storage: -- exiting
usb 1-2: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 17
hub 1-0:1.0: Cannot enable port 2. Maybe the USB cable is bad?
usb 1-2: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 18
hub 1-0:1.0: Cannot enable port 2. Maybe the USB cable is bad?
usb 1-2: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 19

I use the same cable, the same everything as other USBMS devices that do
work on this computer. I get the same errors on the other computers
that the device does not work on.
For the record, the device I am using is this

any insight is appreciated.
