[nylug-talk] Running a FOSS project

for some time now i've been de-facto maintainer of two open source
projects, Trackle which I presented a few months ago at the NYLUG
general meeting, and DTK, which is the current focus of the NYLUG Python
Workshop's efforts (thanks, guys!) I've been searching around trying to
find general answers or guidelines to what seems like the most pressing
question I face as a maint:
What do I have to do to incorporate user-submited patches into my
codebase to:
a) cover my own ass, legally
b) ensure that the contributed code may be licensed the same way
as the parent body of code
c) not trample the rights of my contributors
(OK, to be fair, I guess that's 3 questions, but they're undeniably tied
up in one another.)
Does anyone else here have any experience with this, or can anyone think
of a place to find out more about this?
Thanks,
- d
