I'm not a big fan of the RSVP list myself, and it's probably caused me
more grief than anyone else twice over. The system began life as a text
file that was hand-edited, and to date it has had to be hand-delivered
by one of us for as long as I can remember. Nevertheless, we do have to
abide by the policies of our hosts, and our hosts' landlords, and I'd
like to continue automating it as far into the background for all of us
as possible by integrating it into our new CMS-driven site. It has
depressed attendance since it began, and I'm all for your suggestions
because they might help alleviate the negative side effects on
attendance from having an RSVP list.
