Thanks to everyone who came out last night for pizza, I'm sorry I didn't
get to spend more time talking to everyone. Last night we had our 96th
meeting, which probably means it was around our 100-115th event over the
last 8 years. We've heard about a lot of things, trod a lot of miles at
Javits for LinuxWorld, downed a lot of beer. Our high school members in
1999 are now post-college, the bubble got huge, then burst, our server
across the street from it kept us all in touch throughout the Twin
Towers disaster, people came, went, and have come back again, and now
here we are, on the dawn of 2007, still going strong. A lot of people
have worked over the years to make it all possible, and naming them all
would be impossible. Nevertheless, I'm going to thank a few people here
in random order, who I've worked with and gave a lot of themselves for
the rest of us:

  Jim Gleason
  Eric Berg
  Peter C. Norton
  Monjay Settro
  Ari Jort
  John Bacall
  Tony Marchesano
  Sunny Dubey
  Jack Aboutboul
  Larry Dukhovny
  Michael Werneke
  Josh Kaplan
  Christopher Grimaldi
  Joe Gaffney
  Ruth Shanen
  Jon Britton
  Ward Griffiths
  Lindsey Hausner
  David Danziger
  Aaron Grogan
  Billy Donahue
  Jay Sulzberger
  Michael Smith
  Ruben Safir
  Bill Abernathy
  Mark Andal
  Barry Hughes
  Aaron Benedict
  David Blackman
  George Bourozikas
  Joanne Cripps
  David Danziger
  Mike Fieschko
  Carl Friedberg
  Jackson Maio
  Don Marti
  Eric Moore
  Onkar Harry
  Federico Paini
  Rachel Rawlings
  Ed Weinberg
  Daniel Yong

I'm pleased to say that John Bacall is back with us, and Jim Gleason
should soon be among us again also. I'd also like to send our very best
wishes to 2006's departures. Sunny Dubey, who hosted a number of
meetings, the IRC channel, held several workshops, and invented the
Wingfest, is now focusing his energies on his business degree and his
musical interests. Monjay Settro personally wrote the bulk of NYLUG's
software, used to video our meetings, approve job postings, and did a
lot behind the scenes, is hard at work with her new video business,
which we hope will be a roaring success.

Apologies to anyone whose name I missed, and please do send me a note so
I can add you to our master list of people who've pitched in.

I'd also like to thank our sponsors, who've provided us with everything
from holiday parties to hardware to meeting space. Getting meeting
space in Manhattan is a tall order, and we're deeply appreciative to
both IBM and Google, who've provided us with meeting space.

An additional thanks to Prentice-Hall for the many review books we've
distributed over the years.

See you all in 2007!

- Ron
