This position is based in New York, NY.
Google is looking for Senior System Administrators to help support and
design our growing internal computer infrastructure.

Our team consists of some of the brightest and highest-caliber people
in the field. We design and support Google's internal computer
infrastructure, potentially including core services (DNS, LDAP,
Kerberos, mail), internal applications, custom Linux-based operating
systems, monitoring, databases, performance tuning, etc. As a senior
member of this team, you will promote good technical design, lead
projects to improve Google infrastructure, mentor less-experienced
system administrators, and work with management and other team members
to set technical direction.
* Required Skills:
* MS in Computer Science or equivalent experience (PhD a plus).
* 12+ years experience with system administration.
* 5+ years experience leading sweeping, proactive improvements to
organization-wide infrastructure which supports 1000s of users and
computers.
* Proven ability to lead multiple teams of senior system
administrators and system programmers, setting technical direction
and managing priorities and resource constraints across groups.
* Recognized experience improving the state-of-the-art of computing
via relevant academic research or community projects.
* Very strong development experience with Python, C, C++, or other
high-level language, including strong experience with network,
kernel or database programming.
* Comprehensive knowledge of OS internals: filesystems, virtual
memory, process lifecycle, security, network stack, etc.
* Strong knowledge of networking, including algorithms for two or more
of: routing, quality of service, congestion avoidance, or
latency/packet loss mitigation.
* A driving sense of craftsmanship, quality, and ownership.
* Ability to handle periodic on-call duty and occasional off-hours
work.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
