Very helpful. Question: can folks with more "standard" distros (say, Red 
Hat, Fedora, SuSE, Debian/Ubuntu) sing out and say whether they may have 
a /bin/objs directory? I'm being told that this is "common", and I'm 
pretty sure that it is not.

An answer like "Debian - no" would be great.
