I am writing to spread the word about the Farmingdale Computer
Technology Festival, a fun and educational event that will appeal to
technology professionals and enthusiasts. The dual focus for the
festival will be entertainment technology and open source technology.
FACTFest will be held on Friday, November 17 from 4:30-9:30 PM on the
campus of Farmingdale State University in Long Island, NY.

Our keynote speaker, John Perry Barlow, will appeal to both Grateful
Dead fans as well as fans of free access in cyberspace. Mr. Barlow
wrote some lyrics to the music of childhood friend and Grateful Dead
guitarist, Bob Weir. Further, he is credited with popularizing the
term cyberspace and with launching the Electronic Frontier Foundation
(EFF) in 1990. Those familiar with Grateful Dead music are aware that
the band encouraged fans to freely tape and distribute their concerts.

In addition, FACTFest will feature vendor displays, panel discussions,
and games. Anyone who is curious about new technology will learn
something on November 17 at Farmingdale State. General admission is
free, but donations are encouraged.
